Depart Montreal for San Jose. Arrive and pick up your rental car. The rest of the day is free.
Overnight stay in San José
- Jour 2 – TORTUGUERO

Early morning departure to the Gualipes region via land and water transfers. Along the way, we offer dinner at a typical restaurant in Gualipes, and continue to Tortuguero. Upon arrival at the comfortable lodge in Tortuguero, you will be treated to a guided tour (local English-speaking guide).

Overnight stay in the Tortuguero region - Jour 3 – EXPLORING TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK

Start your day with a discovery of Tortuguero. The national park will be explored by boat. There are 309 species of birds, 111 species of reptiles, 57 species of amphibians, and 60 species of mammals. You’ll find some of the country’s most iconic animals, such as agoutis and sloths.
You can also learn more about the different ways locals are taking action to protect nature, such as through the turtle conservation center and museum.

Overnight stay in the Tortuguero region - Jour 4 – DEPARTURE FOR ARENAL AND ITS VOLCANO

In the morning, after breakfast, you’ll enjoy land and boat transfers to Arenal Volcano, the youngest volcano in Costa Rica. It peaks at approximately 1,720 meters. En route, you’ll stop in Gualipes for lunch and car pickup to continue your journey to Arenal Volcano.
Once there, you’ll discover breathtaking scenery. La Fortuna offers both nature and adventure, as the city’s businesses organize various activities, such as hiking, tours to Arenal Volcano National Park, horseback riding, zip lines, kayaking, sport fishing, and more. If you have the opportunity and some time on your hands, this can be an opportunity to discover the city from a new perspective.

Overnight stay in La Fortuna - Jour 5 – VISIT TO THE ARENAL VOLCANO REGION

Guided tour of Arenal Volcano National Park, including entrance fees. Then, visit an organic tree and vegetable garden, followed by a tortilla-making workshop, a sugarcane juice pressing workshop, and an excellent lunch buffet with a traditional menu.

Overnight stay in La Fortuna - Jour 6 – DEPARTURE TO RIO CELESTE

Head to the Rio Celeste region, where you’ll stay at an eco-lodge near Tenorio Volcano National Park. You can spend the day exploring the surrounding area, including the Tapir Valley Nature Reserve, where you’ll come face-to-face with many representatives of this animal species!

Overnight stay in the Rio Celeste region - Jour 7 – RIO CELESTE AND THE TENORIO VOLCANO

The Tenorio Volcano Natural Park is open daily. You’ll admire the Rio Celeste waterfall. This is the first stop on the trail. The waters plummet down a height of approximately 30 meters. Swimming is dangerous and therefore prohibited. Continue on your way and climb to the viewpoint.
An exceptional view then opens up before you. Before your eyes, a vast expanse of lush nature and tropical forest. A little further away, you’ll find the Borbollones, the bubbling waters. These can reach 94 degrees! Also on the agenda are the Laguna Azul, Teñidero, and the volcano. Be careful, the site is protected and only 1,000 people can visit per day. So be sure to book as soon as possible to ensure you get a spot.

Overnight stay in the Rio Celeste region - Jour 8 – DEPARTURE TO MONTEVERDE

In the morning, after breakfast, head to Monteverde. Once there, you’ll be sure to admire the scenery. On the agenda? Free time!
We recommend hiking around the bucolic Northern Cordilleras. There are a total of nine well-marked hiking trails. During these walks, you’ll have the opportunity to come face to face with some local species, such as birds, monkeys, and more. We recommend the Sendero Bosque Nuboso, a pleasant and varied trail.
If you have the opportunity, try the local coffee. Costa Rican coffee is renowned for its aroma and strength. You’ll find many small cafes here and there offering good coffee. Why not explore a coffee plantation? Easily accessible, the Santa Elena coffee plantation can be explored during a 2-hour tour. At the end of the tour, you’ll be offered a tasting. A real treat!

Overnight stay in the Monteverde region - Jour 9 – DISCOVERING THE MONTEVERDE REGION

After breakfast, visit the guided tour of the suspension bridges at the Sky Adventure Park private reserve. This unique activity will allow you to gain some altitude. For other thrill-seekers, there’s only one thing to do: the longest zip line in Central America.
In the afternoon, you can decide to explore even further and visit the Monteverde Reserve or the Don Juan Plantations. Nature lovers might be tempted to explore the Hummingbird Garden, where you’ll find countless species.

Overnight stay in the Monteverde region - Jour 10 – DEPARTURE TO MANUEL ANTONIO

After breakfast, drive to Manuel Antonio. Located on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, Manuel Antonio National Park is a true tropical paradise.

Overnight stay in Playa Manuel Antonio - Jour 11 – FREE STAY IN THE MANUEL ANTONIO REGION

Enjoy your free time visiting Manuel Antonio National Park. For others, the day can be spent relaxing and unwinding. Manuel Antonio is a small town with many pleasant beaches. We recommend Playa Espadilla, Playa Playitas, and especially Playa Biesanz. You’ll enjoy the crystal-clear waters at a pleasant temperature.
Also take advantage of the moment to continue your taste tour and enjoy the typical specialties of Costa Rica, such as Fish in coconut milk, Costa Rican beef in tomato sauce (carne mechada) or even chifrijo, one of the most famous dishes!
