Itinerary

Jour 1 – San Jose

Welcome upon arrival at San Jose International Airport and transfer to your 4* hotel located near the center of San Jose.

Overnight stay in San Jose

Jour 2 – Departure to Tortuguero

Early morning departure towards Guapiles, crossing the magnificent Braulio Carrillo National Park (approx. 2 hours drive). In Guapiles, stop for dinner at a local restaurant, before continuing the road through banana plantations towards the private dock of La Pavona (approx. 2 hours drive). Boarding a motorized boat, for the nautical transfer on the rivers and canals leading to Tortuguero (approx. 1.5 hours). A few stops to observe wildlife could punctuate this beautiful route. Arrival at the lodge, welcome and installation in your room.

In the afternoon, join your local guide for a visit to the village of Tortuguero, located on a vast sandbar bordering the Caribbean Sea, separated from the mainland by the Tortuguero River. Here, you’re far from the hustle and bustle of big cities: no cars can access the area, only accessible by boat or plane. Back at the lodge, enjoy a relaxing time in the hammocks or by the pool before dinner, served in the pleasant open-plan dining room.

Jour 3 – Exploring Tortuguero National Park

Tortuguero National Park, connected to the rest of Costa Rica by canals and air, is located in the
Caribbean lowlands, bordered by the ocean, in one of the wettest regions of the country (nearly 6 meters of rain
fall here each year); these are factors that condition this entire bioclimatic zone. The region is known for its very diverse birdlife and for its beaches ideal for observing the turtles that come to lay their eggs, notably the green turtle (Chelonia mydas), from June to October, the hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), from May to October, and the leatherback turtle (Dermochelys coriacea), from March to July.

The following activities are accompanied by the resident naturalist guide (English/Spanish speaking) and are included during your stay in Tortuguero:

-A guided boat exploration, approximately 2 hours long, through the canals of Tortuguero National Park and its
surroundings, to observe the flora and fauna
-A guided walking exploration on the trails crossing the lodge gardens
-A guided tour of the village of Tortuguero

Overnight stay in Tortuguero

Jour 4 – Departure to the Arenal Volcano region

After breakfast at the lodge, you will take a motorboat ride to La Pavona (approx. 1.5 hours). From there,
you will take a group bus ride to Guapiles (approx. 2 hours away) where you will enjoy a typical
Costa Rican buffet lunch. From Guapiles, you will take a shuttle bus ride to the Arenal Volcano area (2 to 3 hours away). Arrive in
the afternoon and check into your charming lodge-style hotel located on the edge of the volcano. The rest of the day is free to
relax at the hotel’s pool and gardens.

Jour 5 – ARENAL VOLCANO REGION

Breakfast is served in the lodge’s restaurant. Enjoy a day of exploration or relaxation in the Arenal Volcano region. Several discovery and observation activities are available today.

Possibility to add the following tour:
Visit and swim in the Fortuna Falls including round-trip transfers from your hotel. You will have to take a trail down into the rainforest, to the foot of the Fortuna waterfall! Once at the bottom, you can finally admire this magnificent waterfall, more than 70 meters high and it is also possible to swim there.

Jour 6 – Departure to Monteverde

After a hearty breakfast served at the lodge, transfer by land shuttle to the Monteverde region (4-hour journey), skirting and skirting Lake Arenal and crossing the undulating and bucolic region leading to Santa Elena.

Upon arrival in Santa Elena de Monteverde, check-in and stay at a charming inn. The rest of the day is free to explore the surrounding area on foot or enjoy the hotel’s facilities.

Jour 7 – MONTEVERDE REGION

After breakfast, enjoy a day of exploration or relaxation in the Monteverde region. Several discovery and observation activities are offered.

Option to add the following tour:
Hanging Bridges Guided Tour. Experience breathtaking views as you float among the clouds and marvel at panoramic views of lush forests. As you travel, spot a diverse array of wildlife, from brightly colored birds to elusive reptiles, offering a unique perspective from the treetops.

Overnight stay in Monteverde

Jour 8 – Departure to Punta Leona (Playa Blanca)

After breakfast, transfer by shuttle across the Tilaran mountain range towards the Pacific coast to the Punta Leona Hotel and Club (approximately a 3-hour drive). This resort is located in the heart of a large private nature reserve bordering two beautiful white sand beaches: Playa Mantas and Playa Blanca.

The expansive property is crisscrossed by trails connecting various facilities, including three outdoor pools, bars and restaurants, a gift shop, a mini-market, a children’s playground, a tennis court, a basketball court, a volleyball court, an amphitheater, and a gym.

Jour 9 – Stay in Punta Leona

Enjoy your relaxing stay on the beautiful beaches of Punta Leona and take advantage of walking in the large natural reserve surrounding the site.
